The
MCL Group
The
MCL Group of Companies was founded in 1979 with the launch
of Midland Cryogenics Limited, specialising in cryogenic
applications to service requirements within the UK. Our
reputation of quality and service grew rapidly, with many
prestigious domestic companies joining our customer listing.
In
the early 1980's MCL were asked to advise on major problems
being experienced on North Sea platforms. As a result, MCL
designed a nitrogen transfer system and were awarded the
contract - which was both a success and completed on time.
MCL
has expanded its geographical scope of operations for process
and pipeline services carrying out leak detection projects
on oil tankers in the Mediterranean, pipe freezing projects
in Australia and live gas tank refurbishment contracts in
Africa.
Domestically,
Midland Cryogenics Ltd still operates its nationwide cryogenic
work developing techniques for water authorities, for the
speed and cost effective exchange of hydrants in all areas
of the UK.
We
remain a highly specialised organisation committed to quality,
service and safety which has a wide spread of often complimentary
services to the oil, water and gas industries.

Technicians
The
application of liquid nitrogen as a pipe-freezing agent
requires considerable skill and experience, attributes possessed
by all MCL pipe-freezing technicians.
Each
team of pipe freezing technicians carries with them a comprehensive
range of specialist equipment to accommodate the diverse
range of applications they encounter, for pipes up to 48
inches in diameter.
Our
technicians are fully conversant with the safety requirements
that must be observed when handling liquid nitrogen, and
work to the most stringent standards, thereby maintaining
safety in the workplace.

During
1981 we received a request from Mobil North Sea Limited
for valve replacement on their Beryl Alpha platform and
were the first to introduce Pipe Freezing in the North Sea.
In
the subsequent years the requirement for pipe freezing grew
in the North Sea and Midland Cryogenics Limited formed a
sub division M.C.L. (Offshore) Limited. This company undertook
many offshore freezes including sea bed freezes down the
base of such platforms as:-
