The photograph shows a 2m long, 780mm diameter stainless steel liner being fitted into a steel fabrication. The liner was sealed at the lower end and a hollow tube fitted in the bore to create an annulus for liquid nitrogen to contact the liner.

 

Once cooled, the outer steel fabrication was lowered onto the stainless steel liner and allowed to warm naturally to ambient temperature.
