MCL were contracted to advise and assist in the installation of bronze bearings during the refurbishment of a swing bridge. The photograph on the right shows both bearings cooling simultaneously. The longer bearing is filled with liquid nitrogen so, when removed, the liquid is contained and cools the second, shorter bearing.

 

The bearing sizes were 495mm OD x 457 mm ID x 806mmm long and
673 mm OD x 635 ID x 414mm long.
